Okręgowa Spółdzielnia Mleczarska /Regional Dairy Cooperative/ in Olecko was established in the 20’s of the last century. At present, the Cooperative’s supply source consists of approximately 550 producers providing over 50 million litres of milk a year, including 99% in the extra class. The Cooperative employs 108 people. During the past few years many investments aimed at adjusting to the new EU requirements were commenced and implemented. Cheese facilities and raw milk receiving system have been modernized. SAPARD co-financing was acquired for rest and refreshment rooms, new pasteuriser and whey thickening line. The new cheese ripening facilities and trucks for milk transport and collection were SOP co-financed. The Cooperative’s leading products are Dutch-type ripening cheeses. We also produce butter, milk, curd cheese, cream, buttermilk and fudge sweets. From 29.10.2009 year Okręgowa Spółdzielnia Mleczarska w Olecku belongs to European Network of Regional Culinary Heritage. Our ,,Natural butter from Warmia, Mazury and Powiśle” and ,,Natural curd cheese from Warmia, Mazury and Powiśle” are entitled to use the common quality mark ,,Quality Tradition”, which asserts the highest standard. The Cooperative's products have won numerous awards.
