Our winery is located in Gönnheim, a small town of the Mittelhaardt, in the center of the wine-growing region PFALZ. The vineyards lie on the so-called high terraces of the Rhine, which have formed during the last ice age.
In 1982, we started cultivating our vineyards organically, and since 2005 we are using biodynamic preparations. The guiding principles of biodynamic viticulture are the logical continuation for us: viticulture in harmony with nature. That is why we are contract partners at NATURLAND and DEMETER.
The soils are characterized by loess, which has a very high lime and mineral content, resulting in wines with great mineral structure and of rich body. Since 1983, we have managed our vineyards biologically, before we in 2004 advanced to biodynamic standards. This is in our opinion imperative for the sustainable quality and longevity of our wines.
Our vineyards cover 15 hectares and are planted with Riesling, Pinot Noir, white Burgundy varietals, but also Merlot, St. Laurent, Muskateller and Gewurztraminer.
Our white wines are characterized by their mineral structure and their well balanced acidity. Most white wines are fermented in 1200 and 2400 ltr barrels. Our red wines are traditionally fermented on mesh and stored between 9 to 18 months in French tonneaux and barrique oak barrels.
Senior owner and winemaker Rainer Eymann is a passionate cook. That is why you can enjoy homemade dishes in our estate restaurant (Weinstube), which are prepared with local ingredients by Rainer himself.
