The village of Forst is famous for some of Germany's most prestigious vineyard sites, like Kirchenstück, Ungeheuer, Pechstein, Jesuitengarten, and Freundstück. It is here, that Markus Spindler owns and manages 20 hectares of vineyards, following the guidelines of organic viticulture. Spindler's heart beats for Riesling, which stands for over 85 percent of the winery's total areal. And that is for a good reason: the subsoils here are predominantly of limestone, basalt, or red sandstone, which gives the Rieslings their characteristic minerality. That explains, why the Forster Riesling vineyards enjoy cult status amongst connoisseurs....
For over 85 years now, guests can enjoy the Spindler wines with local and seasonal specialties in the estate's own restaurant. Today, you can choose between the quaint Weinstube and the picturesque garden with its vine-covered pergola and beautiful old trees. The wine tavern is family owned - here you will receive a warm welcome from Florian Spindler and his family.
A wonderful opportunity to get to know wines and food from the Spindlers is the annual Forster Wine Festival in August. In the garden there are fine BBQs expecting you, while the courtyard is transformed into a cozy Riesling Lounge with chilled music - and wine.
