Cut the salt herring fillets, apple, pickles and onion into small cubes. Mix all with the mayonnaise and sour cream, add the finely chopped dill. Season with salt and pepper and the herring salad is ready to serve.
At choice, add a hard-boiled egg cut into cubes.
