Pour hot water over dried figs and leave to soften for 10 min. Mix butter and sugar, then add eggs (one by one). Hand mix the baking powder into the flour, add the softened and chopped figs, some liquid in which figs softened, some grated orange peel, juice of half an orange and a pinch of salt. Bake 45 minutes at 180 oC, in the mold of 26 cm. Remove the cooled cake from the mold, coat with honey and sprinkle with coarsely chopped almonds.
